4. Hap Magee Ranch Park | 1025 La Gonda Way, Danville, CA 94526, United States

Hap Magee Ranch Park has a storied past. The barn façade at the park entrance commemorates its former life ranch for longhorn steer, before which it was home to San Francisco orphans in need of some homespun love and care-a place known only too well by locals who were once these kids themselves. Hap’s water feature is one where metal tubes form tunnels under running children or dogs with sprays inside them while they play on dry land. But even if you’re not doing anything special there are plenty of picnic areas available so take your time lounging next summer afternoon surrounded by lush greenery just waiting patiently until sunset rolls over again.
